Our History
In 2000, Bill O’Neill retired from teaching and started a residential pool cleaning business called The Pool Sitter. The idea was to clean and service pools. That soon became a full-time, seasonal job. As Bill’s customer-base grew so did the Pool Sitter’s services. The business was expanded to include opening pools in the spring and closing them in the fall. As this business continued to develop, friends and relatives were hired including Bill’s son, Paul is now the proud owner of the Pool Sitter.
In 2010, Bill started a second business called Leak Detectives. He owned the specialized equipment and held in-depth knowledge to find and repair leaks in pools. This business grew rapidly including the service territory. He quickly was so busy he needed to bring in help. This is where Dan’s story begins. Over the years, Dan apprenticed with Bill learning all the skills of the trade. In 2020, Bill retired again, and Dan took over the business. Dan continues to grow Leak Detectives adding more specialized equipment, staffing, and services to support the Brantford community and surrounding area. Last year was the busiest season yet for the Leak Detectives with Dan’s team proudly servicing over 350 pools!
